.22 BR Remington (Using Nosler Bullets) Loading the .22 BR Remington with Nosler bullets is a popular path for precision shooters and varminters looking to blend modern projectile design with a well-proven cartridge. Nosler offers high-quality spitzers and varmint bullets that balance ballistic coefficient (BC) with expansion and consistency. When paired with the .22 BR’s efficient case design, these bullets help unlock tight groups, predictable trajectories, and manageable recoil. Typical Nosler weights for the .22 BR fall in the 52–60 grain range, with some shooters experimenting with lighter varmint bullets where stabilization permits. In many custom rifles, loads with Nosler 55-grain or 52-grain projectiles push into the mid 3,200-3,500 fps range, depending on barrel length and powder choice. Because these velocities are moderate compared to overbore rounds, barrel life and throat erosion tend to be gentler, making Nosler + BR a practical combo for high-volume varmint or target shooting. Powders such as Benchmark, H4350, IMR 8208 XBR, and Hodgdon Varget are commonly used to tailor Nosler bullet performance in the BR case.
